Swiss doors for Swedish retail chain IKEA

On 8 November 2011 the popular Swedish interior furnishings retail chain IKEA opened a new store in Rothenburg (Lucerne canton). IKEA invested 105 million francs in the site. With a sales area of around 18,000 m², this makes the store in Rothenburg the second-largest of the nine Swiss stores. More than 8,000 visitors streamed into the furniture store on the opening day.

TORMAX provided reliable door solutions for the entrances and exits, and the specific fire doors. In order to create a generous, inviting main entrance, those responsible relied on the high-quality automatic sliding door drives iMotion 2301 and iMotion 2401. Equipped with these drives, the sliding doors are captivating thanks to their extremely dynamic and quiet door leaf movements, even in high-traffic areas. The four sliding doors in the main entrance area are exposed to a very high volume of traffic and, therefore, have to correspond to high safety requirements.

The eight fire exits from the sales floor up to the stair tower were supplied with automatic swing doors, equipped with the iMotion 1301. In the event of an emergency, these also serve as a smoke and heat extractor.

TORMAX has supplied the furniture store with a total of 16 door systems. Also, as regards Service and Maintenance, IKEA relies on the competent technicians of TORMAX Schweiz AG.
